Why it matters

Projects rarely fail on the work — they fail on the wrapper

Most SME projects don't collapse because nobody could do the job. They drift because the plan lived in one person's head, tasks were never written down properly, the status update took an hour nobody had, and the risk everyone quietly saw coming was never on paper until it hit.

That wrapper — the planning, chasing, documenting and reporting — is exactly the kind of work AI is good at drafting. This course puts it to work across the project cycle so your people spend their time deciding and delivering, not formatting a Gantt chart at 11pm.

Outcomes

What your team will be able to do

  • Turn a rough brief into a structured scope, work breakdown and first-draft timeline.
  • Break deliverables into real tasks with owners, dependencies and sensible estimates.
  • Convert messy inputs — emails, chats, meeting notes — into a clean, prioritised task list.
  • Draft and maintain a risk log, and spot what's likely to slip before it does.
  • Produce status reports and stakeholder updates in minutes rather than hours.
  • Run meetings that end in decisions and assigned actions, captured automatically.
  • Judge what AI got wrong — because a plausible-looking plan is not the same as a workable one.
Curriculum

What's covered

1

AI in project work

Where AI genuinely helps across the project cycle, where it misleads, and why every draft it produces still needs an owner who signs off.

2

Planning & scoping

From brief to scope: drafting a work breakdown, sequencing dependencies, sanity-checking estimates, and building a first-pass timeline you can argue with.

3

Tasks & prioritisation

Turning email, chat and meeting notes into a clean task list with owners and deadlines — then prioritising it honestly when everything looks urgent.

4

Meetings that produce decisions

Agendas, capturing notes, and converting a discussion into decisions, assigned actions and follow-ups that actually get chased.

5

Tracking, risks & reporting

Maintaining a risk log, drafting status reports for different audiences, summarising progress, and escalating clearly when something is off track.

6

Making it stick

The AI features already inside common project tools, building a reusable prompt and template library, light automation, and the ground rules for confidential project data.

A necessary caution

AI drafts the plan. You still own it.

⚠ A confident plan is not a correct plan

AI will happily generate a timeline that looks professional and is quietly wrong — estimates it can't know, dependencies it invented, risks it missed entirely. It has no knowledge of your team's real capacity, your client's temperament or last year's disaster. The course teaches the judgement to interrogate every draft, which matters more than the prompting.

Who it's for

Who should attend

  • Project managers, coordinators and team leads.
  • Anyone running projects without the job title — common in SMEs.
  • Operations and delivery staff juggling several workstreams at once.
  • Managers who spend more time reporting on work than doing it. No formal project-management certification needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Start with AI Tools to Boost Workplace Productivity if AI is new to your team; it's the beginner foundation for everyday individual tasks. Take AI for Business Use if you want AI inside a department's sales, marketing or operations workflows. Take this one if your problem is coordinating work across people and time — plans, tasks, risks and reporting. They stack in that order.
No — it assumes you already run projects in some form and shows you how AI can take the drafting work off your plate. You don't need a formal certification, but this isn't a substitute for learning project management itself.
It'll draft one, and it'll look convincing — which is the danger. It can't know your team's real capacity or your client's history, so it invents estimates and misses risks. A full part of the course is the judgement to interrogate the draft. You still own the plan.
It's tool-agnostic. Project tools and their AI features change constantly, so the course teaches transferable workflows using whatever leading tools are current on the day you attend, rather than one product's menus.
